Dog Wash 

 We will wash the dogs after school Friday starting at 3:30 in front of the gym. We will charge $5 for each dog we wash and donate the money to a school damaged by a flood. All 3rd and 4th grade students can help. We will have snacks after we finish.

Studying the Gulf of Mexico

 

Before Thanksgiving holidays we had a visit from Mrs. Beth Jones of the Gulf Coast Research Lab. We need to make a presentation about the things Miss Beth taught us. We will use illustrations in our work.

 

The Gulf Coast Research Lab is in Ocean Springs Mississippi. It is on an ocean called the Gulf of Mexico. Our teacher was Mrs. Beth and she taught us about creatures that live in the ocean. Those living things are called marine life.

 

Task 1. Make a presentation titled GCRL  The subtitle is What We Learned

 

Task 2. Make a new slide tilled Ocean Life.

List at least three things about GCRL on this slide. Remember your questions. 

 

Task 3. Add a slide for each of the pictures below. These will be our illustrations.

 

       

 

Bonus

The GCRL tags sharks to research how far they travel. In 2009 they tagged 178 sharks. In 2010 they placed tags on 247 sharks and in 2011 they tagged 297. The researchers have tagged 196 sharks in 2012. Place this data in a spreadsheet and make a line graph. Paste the line graph in your presentation as an illustration.

Task 2. Make a spreadsheet for the bus drivers to show how many students are going. The data is below.

 

            Two Rivers kindergarten has 60 students and they are all going on the trip. There are 57 students in first grade and 66 students in second grade. There will be 51 third graders on the trip. There are 65 fourth graders at Two Rivers Elementary, but 10 of them cannot go to the farm. 

 

Task 3. Mrs. Lawrence is buying drinks for the trip. Make another spreadsheet to show how much she is spending for drinks. She paid $6.25 for juice and $9.85 for water. The milk cost $11.96. Tea cost $7.49.

Field Trip Third Grade (Beginning Presentation Building) 

Our Trip to the Farm

 

Last week we planned a trip to the farm. This week we are going to make a presentation about our day at the farm.

 

We left Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. We had about 100 students on the trip. The farm was at Casa. We ate our sack lunches under some large trees and came back home at 2:00 p.m. Everyone had a lots of fun.

 

We need to make a presentation to the teachers to tell them about our trip. We will use PowerPoint and make three slides.
